Rattie Tattie Rescue is located in Cincinnati, OH. We have been doing rat rescue for over 10 years and have placed over 1,000 rats into their loving forever homes in Ohio and several surrounding states. We have foster homes throughout Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky.
We do not breed rats, nor do we support the breeding of any animal. There are far too many animals dying daily because there are not enough homes. All of the rats that come to us are surrendered by owner or come from emergency situations such as hoarding cases, shelters not equipped to care for rats or other crises.
All new rats go into a quarantine home for a minimum of 3 weeks to make sure they have no illnesses that can be spread to all our other adoptables.
We do not adopt our rats out for research or to be used as breeders or feeders. All of our rats are pets only and we screen all of our potential homes and require the adoption questionnaire to be filled out completely.
Our mission is to promote domestic rats as pets. To make sure the rats that come to our rescue find their perfect homes, but until then to be loved and cared for. To educate the public to let everyone know that rats make great pets.
Although we do not currently have a 501(c)(3) license, Rattie Tattie Rescue receives no profit from running the rescue. This is something we do purely for the love of rats and we dedicate a lot of time and money to ensure that the rats that come here are cared for and find their forever homes.
*Due to a huge number of surrenders coming in, there is now a waiting list until we have the room available. Please fill out our form then we will contact you.
If the health or well being of the rats are in jeopardy, please mark email URGENT.
Want to help us spread the word about our rescue?
Download our flyer, and post it at your local grocery store,
Panera Bread, coffee house, vet office, and anywhere else that has a public bulletin board.
It can be found over to the left, labeled RTR Flyer.
Please do not support pet stores that sell animals as live food such as Jack's Aquarium and Pets and Petco! Never buy rats from pet stores if you are looking for friends for any rats you have at home. These stores DO NOT care for their small animals and most, if not all are sick and may have viruses that are DEADLY that can be passed to your rats at home. Please DO NOT risk it, its not worth the risk to your rats that you love and care for.
THESE ARE THE FACES OF PET STORE NEGLECT
Join our Facebook group! A friendly place where you can meet fellow rat lovers and adopters of Rattie Tattie Rescue, post updates and pictures of your rats, ask for advice from other rat owners, and stay updated about all the exciting things going on at our rescue! :)
The Rescuer's Creed
I promise I will take your unwanted animals.
I will heal their wounds, their diseases, their broken bones.
I will give them the medical attention they need and deserve.
I will nurture their starvation and give them a warm place to sleep.
I will spay and neuter them, vaccinate them against the diseases that can harm them.
I will treat them and honor them.
I will buy them toys, blankets, balls, and teach them to play.
I will speak softly to them.
I will try to teach them not to fear, not to cry, and not to hate.
I will whisper sweet, kind, gentle words into their ears,
while gently trying to stroke their fear, their pain, and their scars away.
I will face their emotional scars and give them time to overcome them.
I will socialize them, potty train them, teach them to be obedient, show them dignity,
and hold their paws, and stroke their ears if they have endured too much
and walk them over the Rainbow Bridge,
BUT most of all I will teach them LOVE.
