As a FOSTER, groups of two to three (or sometimes more) adoptable rats would come to live with you in your home, sometimes for long periods of time, to allow the rats to get more of the one-on-one attention that they so desperately crave! Responsibilities include letting them out to play daily, feeding, watering, and cleaning cages, and working on any minor behavioral problems if necessary. We ask that all fosters communicate with their contact on a regular basis on how the rats are doing, and occasional home-checks may be performed.
As a volunteer QUARANTINE home, new rats that are surrendered to the rescue would be temporarily housed with you for up to 6 weeks so that the rats can be monitored for signs of contagious illnesses away from the other rats at the rescue. We ask that any quarantine homes must not have any current rodent residents.
If necessary, any and all cages, food, bedding, and accessories will provided to our foster and quarantine homes.
